The Department of Codes & Life Safety

The Department of Codes & Life Safety is responsible for the Health, Safety and Welfare of the community and our visitors. This is achieved through the administration and enforcement of the Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Property Maintenance and Fire Protection Codes. Also, the department administers and enforces the East Whiteland Township Zoning Ordinance.

The administration of these codes includes reviewing applications for permits, examining the accompanying plans and documents for compliance with the code, issuing applicable permit(s), conducting inspections and issuing the Certificate of Occupancy upon the completion of the project.

The Department of Codes & Life Safety works with the East Whiteland Volunteer Fire Association, Police Department, Public Works, Fire Marshal and the appointed Township Engineer.

In addition, the department augments the volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians with career firefighter/EMTs 24 hours a day seven days a week.
