Spotted Lanternfly Traps To Be Installed in Township Parks

The Spotted Lanternfly made its appearance to our area in April this year.  As we move into July, they will be reaching adulthood.  In an effort to help reduce the spread of this insect that causes such a danger to our trees, East Whiteland Township Public Works Department will be placing traps in Valley Creek Park and Ecology Park. These special traps will not harm birds or other creatures that inhabit trees, they are specifically for the capture of the Spotted Lanternfly.

Please do not disturb or remove them and monitor children if they are in close contact to the traps as they may be curious about what they are.  The traps will be changed once they get filled.  If you notice a trap that is full, please feel free to contact the Township at 610-648-0600.

These traps were generously donated to the Township by the Chester County Conservation District.
