George Washington used Malin Hall as his headquarters on the night of September 15, 1777.  

The Continental Army was deployed along the Swede's Ford road between Malin Hall and the White Horse Inn, 3.5 miles to the west.

It is said that the property was used by the Underground Railroad during the Civil War years. Runaway slaves were safely kept there until they could be transported to other stations in the area. 

This property was deeded to Issac and Elizabeth (Jones) Malin in 1709 by Susannah Jones, sister of Elizabeth. The Malin family continued to live there for well over 150 years.
